Astor's Notes

Card text:

James Bolam

Date: 26th January 1966
Theatre: Garrick
Production: Too True to be Good
Character: Private Meek
Review: Gave a very clever, cool perfomance, very underplayed and thoroughly effective, Good timing.
Date: 14th May 1973
Theatre: Sheffield Crucible
Production: Butley
Character: Butley
Review: This was an enormous non-stop talking part. He handled it with relish, style and well-timed humour. Looked right as the acidic destroying Don. Perhaps lacked the pathos of this man. I didn’t feel pity, so he was a bit short on ‘heart’. But it is still quite a memorable performance.
Date: 30th October 1978
Theatre: Ambassadors
Production: Who Killed Agatha Christie?
Character: John Terry
Review: As John Terry, a playwright in this two handed thriller carried the main burden. Handled smoothly enough. He became a bit boring following the long contrived plotting. 5’9″, slim, late 30s.
Date: 1st June 1989
Theatre: Chichester
Production: Victory
Character: Napoleon
Review: Played with the arrogance and with a strong attack but never seemed to be good casting. He is 5’9″ must be late 40s.
